As if baking pizza wasn't enough, we decided to go for a walk in the park last thing that same Friday afternoon. Just to round off our unit on plants. Not just any old walk, you understand. We had a task to fulfill; things to collect.
Armed with American-style paper 'lunch-bags' we had to put our knowledge of plants to good use in our search for seeds, leaves, flowers and stems, with which to fill said bag.
We needed to collect different kinds of seeds; for example from plants like these (which have seeds that can fly).
We were on the look-out for flowers.
We had to feel the texture of tree bark (these examples of which had the added bonus of jelly fungus).
We needed to find leaves from different trees.
We were lucky enough to spot this little chap.....
although he was able to hop out of reach, and so avoid being popped into a paper bag!
And we feasted our eyes on this amazing view.....
before wending our weary way back home; back to the classroom, where our (semi-nibbled) pizzas were awaiting our return. Yum!
